The impact of the current pandemic on the automotive industry has been significant. But the pandemic is only one piece in a series of challenges that most car manufacturers have been facing since 2019 –largely caused by the move toward Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric (CASE).
Unfortunately, there is no blueprint for a crisis of this global scale. We believe the best way forward will be to review and reprioritize strategic roadmaps and investment efforts, with an eye toward creating cost-efficient operational strength through intelligent operations.
Automotive companies and their suppliers will need a different approach to digital transformation in order to respond to these challenges. This approach will replace the traditional series of lengthy technology projects with a service-based approach that provides a quicker, smarter way to respond to changes in technology, in the industry, and in the business.
